Top 9 Camping recipes to try in your next Camping trip

Camping in the Outdoors and spending some quality time out in nature can be very soothing, calming and most of all joyful. But when it comes to food, but sometimes you get sick of military rations, dehydrated food (Dehydration: food preservation) and cold pre-packed meals. Rest assured though, you can both enjoy camping and have a decent meal it is not that hard after all. Below we have prepared a list of 9 camping recipes to try in your next camping trip.

Important Notice:

Some ingredients like Sauces, Beef, Sausages, Pizza dough,Milk and Chicken can be suspected to spoilage so make sure you pack them in cold containers. Also, if you feel like some prepping can be done at home instead of campsite you can do it in advance.

Campfire Rotisserie Chicken

Ingredients:

One large Chicken, Butter, paprika, Thyme, Rosemary, Salt and Pepper.

Steps:

First things first, you need to get the campfire ready. (Check How to start a fire without matches)

Mix together the butter, paprika, salt and pepper.

Slowly rub the mixture on the chicken and under the skin, make sure it is well coated and don’t forget to rub the inside as well.

Once you are done rubbing everything on the chicken put some rosemary and thyme inside the cavity and under the skin as well.

Tie the chicken legs together with kitchen string or some thin paracord, tie the wings to the bird.

Secure chicken on a rotisserie attachment and place over the fire.

Rotate the spit every 20 to 30 minutes and don’t forget to feed the fire every now and then.

Cook the chicken for 2 to 3 hours, use a meat thermometer to check the cooking level the chicken is done when thickest part is 165 degrees.

Stir Fry

Ingredients:

Chicken, Carrots, Broccoli, Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Green Onions, Garlic cloves, Olive oil, Salt and Pepper.

Steps:

As always get your Campfire ready first so by the time you finish prepping your ingredients, we will have a good bed of coals to cook our stir fry on (no one likes cooking on hot flames with smoke everywhere).

Chop all of your veggies into somewhat thin and even slices so everything cooks at the same time. The Chicken should be cut into thin slices as well. (Don’t forget to wash your hands nobody likes Salmonella either).

Preheat your skillet with olive oil over the fire and start by adding garlic and onion first.

Next, add the chicken and give it some time to cook about 7 minutes.

Later, toss all those veggies on top and keep stirring until everything is soft and well cooked.

Cheese burger

Ingredients:

Burger Buns, 1 lbs of ground beef, one red Onion, Mayonnaise, Barbeque Sauce, Cheddar cheese slices, Olive oil, Salt and Pepper.

Steps:

First, get the campfire ready.

Start by cutting the onion into thin slices.

Then, in a large bowl mix the ground beef with salt and pepper until combined.

Divide into 4 equal size balls and form into patties.

Preheat your skillet with olive oil on the campfire, once it is hot add the patties and cook each side for 5 to 7 minutes.

Once the burgers are cooked put aside and throw the onion rings in the pan and drizzle with some more olive oil and keep cooking until they’re brown and caramelized.

Later, put the buns on the skillet and toast them for a couple of minutes.

Once everything is ready assemble your burgers on toasted buns topped with onion, mayonnaise, barbeque sauce and add cheddar slices on the top.

Put the assembled cheese burger on the skillet for a minute and serve once the cheese has melted.

Campfire Pan Pizza

Ingredients:

Pizza Dough (store bought or homemade), Pizza Sauce, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, one red onion.

Steps:

First things first, you need to get the campfire ready.

Next, cut the Mushrooms and the Onion into thin slices and shred the amount of cheese you need. Roughly cut the Pizza dough according to your pan’s size and make sure to fold the extra dough.

Put the pan over the fire on a steady grill and start cooking the dough until the bottom is golden brown.

Next, take the pan off the fire and flip the dough.

Put all the toppings on the pizza and put it back on the fire until the vegetables are cooked and the cheese has melted.

Campfire potatoes and Veggies

Ingredients:

Baby potatoes, Onion, Carrots, Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Garlic heads, Salt, Pepper, Olive oil. (You can add as much vegetables as you like).

Steps:

Preheat your grill so by the time you finish preparing your potatoes and veggies it will be hot enough to cook on.

Cut the vegetables and the potatoes into chunks and place them into a large bowl.

Pour the olive oil on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Give the whole ingredients a good toss until everything is well mixed together.

Divide your veggies into batches and put each batch into aluminum foil, fold and seal it completely from the edges.

Throw those foiled potatoes and veggies over the grill for 20 to 25 minutes until everything is soft and well cooked.

Campfire Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:

Pasta, Milk, Butter, Cheddar Cheese, Salt, Pepper.

Steps:

First, you are going to cook the Pasta in hot boiling salted water until it is cooked according to the package.

Next, when the pasta is completely cooked, drain and put a side.

Take a large aluminum pan, combine cooked pasta, milk, melted butter and some black pepper.

Add the Cheddar and mix until everything is combined.

Cover the Pan and cook everything over the campfire until the cheese has completely melted (about 15 minutes).

Sausage and peppers

Ingredients:

Sausages, Peppers, Onion, olive oil, salt and pepper.

Steps:

First, start by grilling the sausages until charred for about 2 to 3 minutes a side.

Then, divide your sausages into batches, put each batch into an aluminum foil along with slices of pepper and onion.

Drizzle everything with olive oil and add some salt and pepper.

Next, fold the aluminum foil over the mixture and make sure to completely seal the edges.

Finally, put the foil over the grill for about 12 to 15 minutes until peppers and onions are tender and the sausages are completely cooked.

Grilled Chicken Kebabs

Ingredients:

Boneless skinless Chicken thighs, Onion, Bell Peppers, Chicken marinade.

Steps:

First off, you need to prepare the marinade or you can buy one ready but we do recommend doing it yourself it is super easy.

In a medium bowl, mix some Yogurt, Olive oil, Paprika, lemon juice, finely minced garlic, salt and pepper.

Next, cut the chicken thighs into medium size pieces and put them in the marinade, stir the mixture really well so the pieces are evenly coated and leave overnight in the refrigerator.

Later, start preparing your skewers. Start by cutting onions and peppers into big square chunks, put the onions, peppers and chicken pieces in the skewers one by one. Finally, preheat your grill and grease it really well so the chicken won’t stick and grill those beautiful Kebab skewers until golden brown.
